is Les Vampires really a MUST SEE? it is not HORRIBLE, but as far as MUST SEE goes i feel it is too long and laborious of a task to watch. 6 hours or something, and i guess a the question i should ask is, why did you put it on here?

Elaine May's A New Leaf is very good, albeit quite different from Mikey & Nicky. Haven't seen her other two though.

In the interest of you not wasting your time, La Captive is a weaker Akerman. Her best, from what I've seen, is definitely Jeanne Dielman. I haven't seen it all, so take this with a grain of salt, but Zabriskie Point is quite dull. Just about everyone disagrees with me but I think the Marx Brothers are boring, very outdated. You've got about a kazillion Bergman titles, he's another director who's been hit and miss for me. I haven't seen them all; but from what you've listed I think Through A Glass Darkly, Cries & Whispers and Scenes From A Marriage are the best of what I have. Stuff like The Silence and Winter Light gets a shrug from me; but I'm interested in Sawdust & Tinsel. Deep Throat isn't worth it, even for historical purposes. The Searchers is okay, but Ford made better, such as The Man Who Shot... and My Darling Clementine. I also need to see Stagecoach. Of the four Kazan I've seen, only one I've liked quite a bit, A Face in the Crowd (although it is a flawed piece). He seemed to consistently draw out great performances, though.

Oh yeah, and there are plans for a Movie Night centered around Mizoguchi's The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums. I'll be bringing the wine, Elly's secured the roofies.

I'll resist recommended anymore titles, this list is extensive enough as it is. But, I do love a good ego stroke, so I'll just point you this way. =)

I have so many Bergman things because I think they all look legitimately interesting. I'm likely to spam this page with more Mizoguchi, Naruse, Ford, and Huston and etc pictures. And from what couple minutes I've seen of Debbie Does Dallas, the other porno here, it's actually shot pretty interestingly.

Does the Mizoguchi film have any connection to the Naruse film of the similar name? What should I bring? weed?

I know you wanted to do it on a Movie Night, so I'm srrryz, but I just recently caught Paranoid Park. It's quite inferior to Elephant (I suppose many films are) but I still found it to be quite engaging. I'd definitely recommend it, but wouldn't make it a priority.
