  1. Harper's Weekly - I love the index.
  2. The Atlantic Monthly - Some of the best political writing and
  3. The New Yorker - The fiction
  4. Wired - Most of the good stuff is usually online, though.
  5. The Economist - The only way to get a comprehensive summarization of the world although pretty depressing and very biased in favor of globalization.
  6. Foreign Affairs - The orignial wonk periodical.
  7. Scientific American - A standard.
  8. Cineaste - Actually useful reviews of movies.
  9. Foreign Policy - Watered down for the laymen but I love the index of the world's most generous countries.
  10. McSweeney's - Great literary magazine.
  11. The Believer - Great literary/music interview magazine.
  12. Film Comment - Another in depth look into cinema.
  13. Sight and Sound - Cinema with a UK bent.
  14. CMJ New Music - Fresh music without the hype.
  15. Granta - Great writing.
  16. Photo (or Big) - Nice glossy pictures to look at.
  17. Zoetrope: All Story
