Interesting list of directors, even though/ because (?) I don't know most of them.
Actually only Varda, Babenco, Svankmajer, Dardenne and Haneke are familiar names to me. Oh, and Kieslowski of course.

Babenco's Pixote is a great film!

This is a list of all the directors I`ve seen films of, since I started my new rating system in November 2004. That`s about 500 films, and about 400 directors. This is only the beginning, as you can imagine that I have a lot of backups to do :-(
I normally watch very diverse films, that`s why you probably haven`t heard of some.
But on this list there are absolutely must-see directors, that are among the best ever. From the ones I`ve listed until now you should watch at least some films from Straub/Huillet, Youssef Chahine, Alexandr Dovzhenko, Dusan Makavejev, Fernando Solanas, Humberto Mauro, Kihachi Okamoto and Ritwik Ghatak.
Haven`t seen Pixote, though i will in the future. The only other film by Babenco I`ve seen besides Carandiru was "Kiss of the spider woman". Both are very good imo.
