blues, country, folk, tin pan alley, jazz, european composition.
mixing of those colors sums up popular music over the past 100 years to the present date. the rest is all haircuts, shoes, fingerprints and electronics.
Hi Sgt Pepper, thanks for the good word on my fave albums list. You had asked about Love's "Forever Changes", and I haven't heard it. I've heard much about it, but have just never picked it up. As I understand it, or have read, it's a loungy Baroque psychedlic thing with some fuzz?- like a quirkier and trippier Bacharach/David vibe with guitars?, I could be way off. But I love the '60s and all it's many variations on pop/rock..is it a must have?
a lot of overlap there.

The Mann cover of "One" was written and performed by Harry Nilsson.Three Dog Night had the hit with it.
#53- "I Wish It Would Rain", Temptations.
intersting post, but i would definitely call the horns on The Bnad's "Rag Mama Ram" jazz inspired, as well and especially Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke.
