so my guilty pleasure list is dominated by (scratch that--all) men... and i've been trying to rack my brain for women who would make sense on this list.
then this weekend my 33 year old stepsister revealed to me that she has a weakness for mary kate and ashley movies... and tried to say "don't knock 'em" siting their multimillion dollar diversified business value, etc.
i'm sorry, there's just no excuse for a grown person to like them (or a kid if you ask me. but i'm harsh--what can i say?!)
an acquaintance of mine at work constantly says "that would be a great band name!" i thought i should collect a few of the amusing ones and post em here...
this is good news to me! last time, the infection was exacerbated by an airplane flight (painful) and by the time i went to the doctor my eardrum had ruptured... i didn't get my hearing back for almost a month--not fun!
i'll have to keep this home remedy in mind for next time!
nope i've just seen city of lost children, amelie and delicatessen (in that order)... but weren't the ones before delicatessen all shorts? it's hard to find that sort of thing, at least in my neck of the woods. (and i can't say i have any desire to see alien 4 but at least it made jeunet a bit more visible/known.)
tell me your thoughts on "goldfrapp" will you? i just heard something recently and was very intrigued... sounded somewhere between portishead and garbage--what's your take?
and i have to say i'm appreciating amelie even more (if that's possible!) now that i've watched the DVD's special features.
it's not only great to hear the background on the script and casting, and to see how they made the "look" of it so captivating, but jeunet is much higher up on my director list now... he's got kieslowski's vision and reaches hitchcock-esque levels of meticulous planning. brilliant!
ah... well from the imdb synopsis it doesn't sound like it's up my alley either. the only voodoo-ish movie i've seen would have to be angel heart and mickey rourke gave me the willies for many years after that (not to mention ruining poor little lisa bonet).
yeah, it may require a rewatch at some point because i have *no* clue! maybe the key to that particular plot-point happened while i was peeking through my fingers and i missed it! :)
and i've never seen that "serpent and the rainbow" movie--is it worth checkin out?
good question, jim... i was living with a girl who was dating a film major at the time and he thought it was brilliant so we rented it. needless to say, it didn't take long for me to quit listening to him!
i may get a coffee mug at some point too, but i was thinking they may allow you to offer stickers at different marked up prices for various levels of donation... or you could keep it to the $3 donation and it'll just be an inexpensive item. just a thought!

so far we have sudden crumple and taffy days.

hmmmm, not sure you should admit you think being addicted to listology is "sad" to this crowd...
maybe other folks would think so, but i personally could think of sadder ways to spend my time. ;)

good to know you're on board with buechner, too--and i hope you're right about his place in literary history...
now if i could only take a break in my grafton frenzy to work on his 2nd in the memoir series. ;)
i'm curious, what did you think of the eggers book? do you recommend?

hey jim,
i'm officially requesting stickers!
i may get a coffee mug at some point too, but i was thinking they may allow you to offer stickers at different marked up prices for various levels of donation... or you could keep it to the $3 donation and it'll just be an inexpensive item. just a thought!
