Actually, one of the reasons I dislike Case is the political climate. It's not the only reason, of course, but it has made a difference for me. I wasn't overly liberal compared to people at home, but I feel out of place amongst the conservative student body here. I guess it could be different if the students are more liberal than you instead of more conservative (?) but it is still something to consider.
Totally agree on Brown being groovy, though I doubt that's a word I'd actually use. ;-)
I'm planning on applying to some of these schools as a transfer since I think I might be happier somewhere else. Case is alright, but it's not me. I think my top choices right now are Brown and Amherst, but I'm planning on reapplying to Columbia and Penn as well. Maybe I'll do better this time around...
Apparently my papers for school are masculine... I'm not sure why the words your, we, me, and myself are listed under female for nonfiction, though. I was taught, for the most part, to avoid those words in academic papers.
My more personal writings (i.e. blog, lists on Listology, etc.) indicate that I'm female, though, so it's all good.
Congratulations! It must be such a relief to have both your wife and daughter at home. I hope you know what a great thing it is you're doing, jgandcag!
Jim, thank you so much for this comment! I wasn't familiar with the name Tara Fitzgerald, so I headed over to IMDb to check her out. In her filmography I see that she's in a movie due to come out next year based on Five Children and It by E. Nesbit starring Kenneth Branagh. That was one of my favorite books when I was growing up, and I'm quite excited now! (If you're unfamiliar with the book you must check it out. My father read it to my sister and I when we were probably 5 and 6 and we absolutely loved it.)
LBangs, I completely agree with you on all of the SNL people (I wouldn't mind adding Adam Sandler to the list, either). I also find most of the other people pretty annoying, especially Tara Reid. She always bothers me.
I have to agree with AJ about Reese Witherspoon, though. She has had a bad role or two (Pleasantville comes to mind), but overall I enjoy her work.
Can Pee Wee's Playhouse still be found on tv anywhere? Even if we owned a tv when I was a kid I doubt I would have understood most of it. According to IMDb it went off air in 90, so I would have been 6!
(By the way, Jim, no tv for kids is the way to go; good call on that. We didn't get one until I was in 8th grade and I know I read and played games with my sister and family, etc, a lot more than my classmates did. I actually wished for a while after we got the tv that we hadn't because I could tell I wasn't having as many good conversations with my family! How many teenagers do you think would be sad about that?!)
Fantasia 2000 above Fantasia? Really? I love both, but I have to say I only thought one of the segments in 2000 ("Rhapsody in Blue") was significantly better than anything in the original (and even that can't compete with "The Nutcracker Suite").
Alright, Jim. I'm making an appearance just to let you know that I don't ignore you, I just don't comment! :-)
That being said, I don't see any problems with the new format, especially if it's easier for you. I'm sure you have enough to do without having to copy and paste your reviews a billion times!
Pssh, whatever. Pineapple lifesavers are the best of the fruit flavors. Of course butter rum are the best of all the flavors...

Yay! I told you Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was great!
Well... after AJ told me, anyway...

I googled "shalom, y'all" and discovered that Jimmy Carter supposedly greeted an Israeli officer that way, starting the phrase.
I don't know how true the story is, but aren't Americans classy?
Eew. Nathaniel, why would Old Country Buffet ever be an addiction?
Is Blazing Saddles a guy thing? I really didn't think it was that funny at the beginning, and it just kept getting worse...
