Sorry for the delay in responding. I have one of these on Mt To Be Read, but I haven't managed to get more than 10 pages in. I haven't seen these listed as culinary mysteries before, because they seem to be about crafts and dying, and I didn't notice any recipes in them. I'll move this to the top of the Mtn though, and see if I'm wrong. Thanks.
Hi, I just answered my own question over on the poll. I am awesome!
I'm so glad to hear someone else likes Young Sherlock Holmes besides me. Which dovetails nicely with the conversation we're having on *your* list about retellings. Oh syncronicity, how I adore thee.
Some mythical retellings work for me (Gregory Maguire's Wicked), and some fall flat (every single chick lit book retelling the Cinderella story. Just. Stop.) It's a fine line.
That's interesting, because I had the same reaction to the book, and in fact flipped it back over and re-read it right afterwards, even though I usually read no chick-lit at all. I cannot wait for the sequel.
LOVE it.
"Lost" it. Hmmmm.
"Jumped up and down on it and then opened the window and flung it". Are we using the terminology incorrectly?
LOVE Juniper Lee. Love her. I will wind up becoming someone's Ahma in spite of myself.
Nuts. That beats my 19-year-list.
/me bows to the master booklister

That begs the question: which three?
Some mythical retellings work for me (Gregory Maguire's Wicked), and some fall flat (every single chick lit book retelling the Cinderella story. Just. Stop.) It's a fine line.
Also? Thanks for not telling me the ending. :D
Two or three at once? No one can live at that speed!
So what did you think of Sirena?
Dude. Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004). Also not for kids, but the only animated movie I can stand to watch.
(Although I'm planning on giving Monster House a shot when it comes out on DVD).
108, She's Gotta Have It, is usually on IFC or Bravo once every six months. I try to keep a weather eye out for it.
113, Hotel Terminus, has been on IFC in the last year, but it's the only time I've seen it come up.
Elvis Presley Blues - Gillian Welch ?
Although you could almost do a whole Elvis section unto itself: "Wendy" by The Odds, "Calling Elvis" by Dire Straits, etc
I'd forgotten how much I like that Sleater-Kinney song. Thanks for reminding me.
So as far as defining "cross-pollination", does it encompass sampling in songs?

Warm love from Vermont, cmonster
What did you think of Foop!?-
