them, eh? (sound of squeaky mind gears turning, painfully slow)
there is some about the 'leather jacket/income bracket' reference in that line that kills me. it sound just like the sarcastic and self-important nouveau punk rock crap i love. once the answer is posted, i will check the song out, for sure.
alright, all the songs I know have already been filled in. but, 'sound unheard', the last song on your list is my new favourite song of all time! how good is that line! damn.
"Resevoir Dogs" was great! I think it is an aquired taste though...i have found that the same people who like "Resevoir Dogs" are the same people who are pop culture junkies...couldn't tell you why.
how did you feel about "Eyes Wide Shut"? while not on your initial list, i had the same reaction to that as you did to the others - everyone i know loved it - seemed to be somewhat of a critical darling - and did absolutely nothing for me. actually, nothing isn't true, it irritated me quite a bit...
liked your comments on "Faster". it's a borrower, for sure. i too thought it looked intersting and picked it up, but i haven't made it past the first 30 pages. just isn't holding my attention.
it's another book i'll add to the shelf; the bookstore receipt marking the exact page where I lost interest and/or patience.
the most fascinating and entertaining cover songs are by all by Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies. they have two FL albums and guest spots on various compilations. one album, all classic songs - 'take me home', 'fire and rain', 'leaving on a jet plane', 'big shot' - in a 1 minute 40 or less. the second album, all show tunes, pales in comparison.
their whole repetoire is definitely worthy of mention here. no cover discussion is complete without them.
Beverly Hills by Weezer?
another aidan quinn/jeremy irons - dead ringers?
okay, lisa bonet and jon voight - enemy of the state, right?

pearl jam also does a great cover of a barely known 50's or 60's song - 'last kiss'. at fisrt, awfully creepy, then it haunts you...worth looking up.
