Excellent! I like Zach Braff and I think he'd be pretty good as a younger Fletch. Last I had heard, it was Jason Lee up for the part of Fletch. That would have also been a good match.
I LOVED it. The art, the story, everything. I zoomed through it so fast, I wish it were longer. My childhood & teenage years were nothing like his, which I think added to my fascination.
I thought The Incredibles was fantastic. Pixar can do no wrong. I think I enjoyed it more than Finding Nemo.
Coffee and Cigarettes on the other hand was pretty lousy. I really looked forward to it, mainly because of the cast, but too much of it is slow, awkward, and, well, not good at all. Jarmush could have trimmed the first half of the movie off, and just left the final 4 or so vignettes. If you get it, stick it out until the end, when it finally gets good.
It is pretty good. It's not great, but good. His tales of growing up as a nerd, and that sort of thing. You can see where he got the inspiration for "Freaks & Geeks": his own life!
I couldn't agree more, and I do my best to visit the local theaters that still haven't caved in to running ads before the trailers and the film. I could always do with a few more trailers, but no more ads.
Also, thinks for pointing to the Movie Blog. What a great site.
I agree. I was really impressed with the stories collected in the book. I'm eager to read her new book (is it a novel?), but I'll wait until I find it used or when it makes it to paperback.
thanks for the suggestions, kevbro. I got the gilberto gil CD from a friend, who also gave me copies of some Os Mutantes, Cactano Veloso(sp?), and a Tropicalia compilation. They're all great, but there are a few tracks on that Gil CD that just blew me away.
I agree with just about everything on this list, but add every other cop / forensic / courtroom drama and spinoff to the list, with the exception of the original Law & Order. Sam Waterston still has it.
I do, however, really like Six Feet Under, and Raymond can sometimes get me laughing out loud.
I'm not sure how she found my site. I think the day of or the day after I put made the site live, someone linked it at metafilter.com, and I _think_ she mentioned metafilter during the interview, but I'm not sure if she said exactly how she found it.
I certainly agree with you. I had to read the book for a class, but I'm glad we did read it. It is definitely one of my favorites now.
As for Blankets, it wasn't really a story I could relate to personally, but I was really drawn in to the story and the art is just wonderful.

I think you're right on with that assessment. I thought it was pretty good. It had several *great* moments, but overall it was just good.
Having said that, this is Braff's first film, and just based on this, I'm sure we'll see something better later.. once he gets over the hipness. :)

If you like Blankets, take a look at Box Office Poison, by Alex Robinson. It's fantastic. Here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1891830198/

I've become a much bigger fan of Futurama, now that it's in reruns on Cartoon Network, but it still doesn't beat the Simpsons.
You know, I haven't seen it. So many times I've thought about renting it, but it slips my mind when I'm at the video store. I really want to.
I want to see Spellbound as well. I've heard so many great things about it.
Try and catch "Naked" directed by Mike Leigh. There are some tough scenes in this one, but overall I think it's a great film.

I'll try and check out some of those others.

The first season DVD is already on my Amazon wishlist! :)
