I will have to make a note of that title. Would love to hear if you post about it what you think about it. I may also consider adding little notes on the books. Thanks for the suggestion.

Books Read in 2005, Part II

On _America: The Book_. I simply loved it as well. The way the book is set up as one of those old social studies books we loved to hate is great. But other than that, I agree, the book is absolutely funny and hilarious. It would be scary if it were not for the fact that if one looks at how America runs, the authors are not too far off from the truth. Everyone should read this book at one point or another.

David Pringle's Best 100 Science Fiction Novels

I recently discovered this list myself, and I found myself humbled at fiding I have only read 10% of it, since I do read a few science fiction works now and then. Then again, I also read widely on other genres. As others have mentioned, there are many omissions on this list. At any rate, I have read 1,3,7,8,9,20,30,32,48, and 100. 32, _Rogue Moon_ I just completed. It is a nice easy read, and at first it may seem the hero is just another testosterone filled daredevil, but there is more to him. The ending I found quite neat, had to think about it a bit, and that is always a good thing in a scifi book.

14 Favorite Novels

A very nice list. Can't go wrong with Heinlein I suppose, although he can be inconsistent in terms of quality at times. I read _Time Enough for Love_ recently, and it was a book to be savored. Have to pick up _To Sail Beyond the Sunset_ next since it is Lazarus's mother's story. Happy reading.

I enjoyed Cisneros very much. The book itself is a very easy read, you can likely do it in one sitting. What I liked most about it was its evocative feel. The brief passage at the beginning where she talks about her name makes a good example.

As for the _Mambo Kings_, I have not seen the movie, maybe for the same reason, afraid it will ruin the vision of the book. Then again, I hear that Tito Puente has a brief appearance, so I may watch it someday just for that. I have enjoyed Hijuelos's other books as well. His _Mr. Ives Christmas_ is very touching, and while it would make a great reading for the Christmas season, I read it out of season and worked fine for me. Happy reading.

I enjoyed the book very much at the time I read it, which was maybe a couple of years ago. I did not read it during Christmas, but I can see a reader picking it up during the season, kind of like an alternative to Dickens's _A Christmas Carol_. Having said that, I think you can read it anytime. Like his other books, memory plays a key role, and in my case at least, I enjoyed the rememberances very much. Happy reading.
