New Adventures in HiFi is the latest REM album I have and it never clicked for me. I find I'm not interested in their latest stuff - or anybody's latest stuff, for that matter. These days I'm listening mostly to old Country (The Carter Family, Hank Williams, The Stanley Brothers) and Funk (James Brown, P-Funk, etc), spiced with Jamaican Rocksteady.
10. As I Lay Dying - William Faulkner (wild guess based on the name 'Jewel')
18. War of the Worlds - H. G. Wells
22. 1984 - George Orwell
28. A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens
36 The Time Machine - H. G. Wells
I've been following this list since you started it and I'm just noticing "One Tin Soldier" is credited to Joni Mitchell. It's really by a band called Coven.
I'm currently watching Maison Ikkoku - it will be somewhere in my top ten when I've finished it. I also plan to watch Kimagure Orange Road in the next couple of months.
Best. Thing. Ever. Period.
Also, check out the other one - "We Are All Connected" - it's just as good.
The website is Symphony of Science.

Thanks! Coming from you, that's an honor.
Yeah, different song - my bad.
The actual title of #28 is "Looking Back to See" - not really all that strange.
I've never heard of No. 44, but I'm pretty sure The Mysterious Stranger is Mark Twain.
Good list! Those top ten look almost unassailable.
I'll be getting all of them eventually, probably during the next DDD sale in June.
It's an unincorporated area, but here it is :)
Theme or no - this one moves to the head of the pack with the inclusion of "Double Barrel"
:-)
36. Rubber Band Man - The Spinners
40. Right Down the Line - Gerry Rafferty
