I agree on everything but the Matrix. I actually forgot to add it to my most disturbing movies list! No, actually, I know a lot of people who really liked it--I just can't imagine why.
I think I would have to hear the song again. I can't seem to place the beginning of it . . . I just keep hearing the strings in the background during the chorus--that is, if I even have the right song in mind!
I could make a new category for theme songs! Good suggestion. And I think that Patty Duke would probably go near the top of that list. That and the theme from Mr. Ed. Should I admit that I used to LOVE to watch all of those reruns, including Donna Reed and My Three Sons on Nick At Nite???
I don't know, it has been a few years since I've seen it, but I just remember at the time being very impressed with all of the history that it covered, even if he did keep popping up. I thought it was a nice twist. But I'm a big Tom Hanks fan anyway, so that may have something to do with it. I do see how you could say it was a little cheesy. I guess I'm just one of those people who enjoys a little chessiness from time to time.
It was quite by accident that I ended up seeing it in the theater, actually. We were in Rhode Island at the ocean one day last May, and we stopped at this movie theater on the way home just to see what was playing and if we were in time for anything, and the only thing playing at that time was Gladiator. I had only seen one preview of it, and I was like, "I don't know . . ." But we went anyway, and I could not believe how good it was. I'm ashamed to say that we went to see it 2 more times in the theater and then again at the drive-in!!! And now, of course, I own it, and half of Russell Crowe's other movies. Who would have known?
Keep avoiding Happiness, Scary Movie, 2001, Dogma, Bringing Out the Dead, and Boys Don't Cry. I can tell you that from experience. But I still don't understand what you have against seeing Mission to Mars (it's got a great cheesy ending!), Braveheart (I know you don't like gore, but you REALLY should see this one some day), Amistad (GREAT historical value), and The Perfect Storm (is it George Clooney or the subject matter that has you leary?) luv ya cuz
I like most of your choices, but what about Gettysburg makes you want to watch it over and over? I couldn't even get through it once!
Huh? The Left Behind Series is the only ones I've heard of, but I do want to read them eventually! What are the others about?

I liked it, personally. But I liked the book better.
