A few comments (tho I agree with the vast majority of the slime on this list):
are dave matthews and phish "rock" bands?
Live strikes me as at least "deeper" than most on this list--Secret Samadhi's "Lakini's Juice" and "Freaks" I have always liked for its imagery and relentless chord progression.
Also, in defense of 7 Mary 3 (since they come from Virginia, as I do): "The Needle Can't Burn (What the needle can't find)" and "Lucky" off of Rock Crown are what I would consider good rock songs.
Just my two cents. I think that The Presidents of the United States of America ties for worst band riiight next to Ugly Kid Joe.
Strange Currencies, perhaps? Particularly because of "Y'now with love comes strange currencies, and here is my appeal / I need a chance, a second chance, a third chance..."
I'm a huge fan of the ABC/History Channel series "The Century: America's Time" hosted by Peter Jennings. It's a six tape affair, but full of very interesting interviews with older people, veterans, etc, who experienced the 20th century.
good point yourself, Jim. Glad you expanded your comments. I think I understand now the problem with the film. I was very impressed with Hillary Swank (had to look it up) and her supporting actors/actresses. Truth be told, I think that I was ingrossed by story was because I know self-destructive people who just can't "knock it off". They are "broken people", as you say. Still, all that aside, it was a bleak movie, and not much for idle, well-deserved entertainment.
Jim, I'm a little surprised at your take on "Boys Don't Cry". I thought that (damn, now that I can't think of her name) the main character's pathological lying and obvious socialization problems would affect you as it did me. Even though I knew what would happen, I had to watch it to the end.
#19 is (nerd that I am) Darth Vader from the star wars trilogy; I'm thinking from the first scene from "Return of the Jedi"
#32 is Wonder Boys, I believe

#56 is "Scar Tissue" by the red hot chilli peppers
unless of course it is "camera" by R.E.M.
#33 must be "letter never sent" by R.E.M.
#38 is "Across the Universe" by the Beatles...I think
correct
correct; always good to play on the way to work early in the morning...
