Vanhalens greatest songs

I agree. I also wanted to add a couple of other personal favorites to the list. I always thought the two best songs on Women and Children first were Could This Be Magic and In a Simple Rhyme.

Van Halen's Greatest Albums

I've just never been much of a Hagar fan, and Van Halen became too pop in the 90's for my taste. They did have their moments, however. I do like OU812, the video for Right Now is one of my all-time favorites. I am just a fan of the old, keyboard-less, David Lee Roth incarnation. Roth may be a clown, but he was an entertaining clown, and was the soul of old Van Halen.

Vanhalens greatest songs

God bless you, jblack! No VanHagar in the mix!

A few years back, I played bass in a band and Somebody Get Me a Doctor used to peel paint. I was told by Woody and the famed Woody's Roadhouse in Washington, Mass. that we were the only band he could ever remember who played Running with the Devil, too.

GREAT MOVIES WITH SPORTS THEMES

"Eight Men Out", featuring Ray Liotta and Jon Cusack among others, the story of the 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal, I believe was one of the better baseball movies ever made.

Ditto "A League of Their Own". Jon Lovitz' fifteen minutes in that movie had me crying the first time I saw it, I was laughing so hard.

I've always loved "Major League" as a stupid, don't have to think too much, comemdy.

"The Longest Yard" is probably my favorite football-flavored movie.

GAME0003: Name The Series TV Character

#25: is "Cousin Larry" to Bronson Pincot's [sp?] "Balki" on an ABC sitcom from the late 80's set in Chicago whose name escapes me at this early hour.

#27 of course is President Bartlett, Martin Sheen in The West Wing.

GREAT MOVIES WITH SPORTS THEMES

Ugh! I forgot Bull Durham, my all-time favorite sports-movie!

Also, how could I forget Caddyshack? That movie was a staple in college, watched so often we wore it out.

Baseball Movies I Have on Tape (in order of preference)

Actually, I've got to add Eight Men Out and A League of Their Own to the list. I like sports, not just sports movies, and while not all sports movies make for particularly interesting cinema, once in a while they're entertaining.

Sports Illustrated just did an article on the 25 greatest sports movies of all time. I forget the details of their list, however.

Great Teen / Coming Of Age Films

While I wouldn't necessarily have thought of it as a "coming of age" movie initially, after catching ALL THE RIGHT MOVES with Tom Cruise on Cinemax the other night, I think it qualifies. The actors are so young, and really took their charactors over the top, but the depiction of western Pennsylvania steel country with the constant grey, overcast skies . . . I was impressed witht the film making of such a cheeze-ball movie.

Fun music

Though I'm not sure if you'd classify them as fun, I wish to point out two types of music that I cannot listen to and be in a bad mood. . .

- College Football Fight Songs

- Anything by John Philip Souza

Perhaps I just love trombones!?!

Movies I got to watch when I was under 15 that I probably shouldn't have

Ah Yes, Monte Python! I saw that one in the theater with my older brother when it came out. I remember I burried my head in the popcorn out of embarrasment!

Speaking of sex scenes I saw, how about Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange in The Postman Always Rings Twice? Quite steamy for a youngster.

Also, I should add violent movies to this list. Godfather I and II spring to mind. Or classic war movies which were my passion in second grade, such as Patton.

It's a wonder I'm not in jail, considering my upbringing!

Why I miss the 80s

In hind sight, I would have listed "Nothing But A Good Time", another Poison anthem that more accurately conveys my point. Namely, that most 80s hairbands were about fun and good times. I'm glad to see that MARTIN understood the point, anyway.
