I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to be very critical of this list. I ran across it because I googled 100 greatest paintings out of curiosity and this is the first thing that came up. Given that this is the first link, I would expect a quality list. However I was very disappointed.
Obviously when creating this kind of list, personal preference and subjectivity comes into play, but when you talk about the 100 greatest paintings, there are some artists who simply cannot be omitted and that have been. I really feel like the person who made this list focused way too much on a handful of artists. For example, as much as I love Klimt and his work, I find it completely ridiculous to include him about ten times while omitting key artists.
Here is a non exhaustive list off the top of my head of artists whose absence baffles me:
-Manet, Matisse, Cezanne, Gauguin, Degas, Munch, Picasso, Miro, Turner, Delacroix, Kandinsky, Poussin, Titian, Raphael, Velazquez, Pollock, Courbet, Seurat, Kahlo, Whistler, Homer, Warhol, Lichtenstein...
