I've been reading a bit more of your page and, simply put, it's pretty freaky how you tend to make music listening into a science. It almost seems as if you think you're compiling an objective list here. ;)
Just lazy. ;) To tell you the truth, baseball is definitely NOT big over here. You gave me the news. It's great that they've beaten such a big team. Who are they playing now?
Ocean Songs is a set of instrumental tracks (violin, guitar, drums) dedicated to the Ocean (No shit!). It's one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard.
but I do think he'll rank it behind the self titled one, probably between Irrlicht and Parable of Arable Land, whereas I predict the self-titled one to rank just behind Twin Infinitives (I say this because Ivo Perelman's Seeds, Visions & Counterpoint seems to be its equivalent and that's where I rank it)
??? What are you, psychic? Maybe I'm just stupid, but:
1) Why are you making assumptions about Scruffy's appreciation of Litanies of Satan in relation to an album you haven't even heard yet?
2) Why are you making assumptions about Scruffy's appreciation of an album you haven't even heard yet in relation to Twin Infinitives?
3) What the Hell does the Perelman album have to do with this? I have no idea whatsoever why you said 'I say this because' there.
4) Why do you even suppose he'll go along with you on these points? Why shouldn't his ratings be 'correct' as they are?
I've seen it, yes, but I wasn't all that impressed. Too unfocused, random and dreamy. It has been a long while though since I've seen it and back then I was not yet very familiar with art films, so perhaps reviewing it will help me appreciate it better.
Lately I've been revising some of his lists for him and told him about that inconsistency (among many others). He then switched the two again on the decade list, so I presume he really rates Litanies 8/10 and s/t 9/10. But, messy as his (believe me, I know, after revising those lists) he might've just checked the artist page and copied them without thinking. He could've still interchanged the ratings on the artist page (I like Litanies of Satan better, too, by the way).
Wonderful to see you digging Jazz composer's orchestra by the way. It recently made my top 10, too. The monstrous Communications #11 is without doubt one of the greatest tracks ever.
Wow, I've seen quite some Scaruffi-minded lists, but this one tops them all. I would think you ARE him. The top 5 is identical to Scaruffi's and if you put his rock & jazz lists next to this one, you find very few dissimilarities. This is creepy. Oh, did I mention this is a great list? ;)
White light/White heat is surely gonna be on the list, I'm in the process of going through my favorite records and placing them in order. I just haven't gotten to that one yet (Expect a list of about 150). Top 30 can be considered pretty steady, though.
Nonetheless, WL/WH as a whole doesn't really strike me as a masterpiece. Only tracks 1 and 6 are true masterpieces if you ask me (6 of course being one of my all time favorites), maybe 5 too, with a little good will (surely one of the wildest tracks of the time). But the other three tracks are just not up to the standard (The gift being the most overrated track by many).
About Faust, that has been, and continues to be, one tough nut to crack for me. Sure, I really dig it and it's definitely gonna make the list, but until now, it never became one of my true favorites. Extremely difficult record (as are the Royal trux and Red crayola records), at least for me.
Yes I do. :)
I updated the list with better, high resolution pictures:

Sorry to have kept you waiting so long (and still). Totally forgot about this website. I'll see if I can update the list some day.

And now I'm gonna check your lists, guys. :)
