Whatever I just finished reading is a favorite!
Over time the ones that I've reread or hope to reread:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Time Traveler's Wife
Robinson Crusoe
Moby Dick
Gone With the Wind
Mysteries of Udolpho
Armadale
and that's just off the top of my head.
I've got other favorites, but they aren't on this list.
I kinda wondered about how they reached their decisions about where they put 'em. They've got Silas Marner under State of the Nation!
Sorry, forgot about the underscores. All better now?
You should have seen this before I formatted it the way I did! :)
And the catagory headings were not numbered.
That said, I italized the catagories, and added some line breaks before and after. That should help.
I've never read 'The Beach'.
I didn't consider 'Robinson Crusoe' to have a lot of action in the same sense I'd expect in a modern book. But there was physical conflict and violent confrontation a couple of times in it. Mostly, it is is story of survival, and even personal growth as he made a home on the island.
I've always had a problem PHYSICALLY READING Dickens. But I discovered I can LISTEN to him being read, and enjoy it thoroughly. There are a lot of good recordings at Librivox.org.
I like variety! Although I am partial to mystery.
I love Stephanie Plum! and I've read all of them. I have read other Evanovich books, but am not as interested in them.
Oliver Twist was a wonderful story, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Have you read it?
My favorite read so far this year has been Robinson Crusoe.
somewhere here it says who I cloned it from. Look for the statement 'Inspired by.....' at the bottom of the list. That'll take you to the one I cloned it from.
For another list I recently cloned, I followed it all the way back until I quit finding any reference to a prior list. So I cloned from that one.
I wouldn't. Too many books get totally screwed up when translated to movie and tv. Not only that, there are some things that are hard to display on screen, such as the thoughts a character has.
I'll keep these in mind. Thank you.
Hello Nance!
I will be looking at other author's Sherlock Holmes once I finish with the original series. Thanks for the suggestion!

Although this year has been blessed with some really wonderful reading, Robinson Crusoe remains my favorite one so far.
Good list. Thank you.
Carmen is a novella and can be found on Project Gutenberg, and also at Librivox.org.

I discovered today that the opera, Carmen, was based on a novella by Prosper Mérimée. I found it at Project Gutenberg, and read it today.
