I agree with you about the priority of studios, however I've been pleasantly surprised by the recent studio efforts to remaster in high definition on blu-ray, hopefully they will continue. I am even happy to see that they are offering digital copies, like on the upcoming "All Quiet On The Western Front" blu-ray release.
Ha! I'm the same way, I love to collect and haven't seen the majority of my films either. Last year I tried to make a conscious effort to watch a different films throughout the year instead of re-watching my cherished favorites repeatedly. I could sometimes kick myself in the head when I watch such and excellent film that has been sitting on my shelves for over 7 or so years.
As for VHS, those were the days. I've managed to hold onto 10 box full of tapes...heck, I even have my betamax tapes! What relics, I just can seem to part with them.
Hello kaplan! Thanks for the gracious invite but I'm going to bow out this year for reasons much like WB's, and like him I appreciate the invite and hope to play again in the future. Happy viewing!
Well said WB. I feel the same way, this year I want to watch films for pure enjoyment and not let my competetive side take over and that be the reasoning behind my viewing, although I still enjoy any and all watching. Like you, I'll check in and see what people are watching. :) Also, I'm sort of taking a page from your book, my goal is to catch up on my foreign film viewing.
Great list. "China Beach" so low on the list? It would most likely have been in my top 5....sadly, it seems the DVD or blu-ray release will never see the light of day. Such an excellent series and canceled to soon, in my opinion.
Good ranking...personally I may have put "Cube" at the top but "Boogie Nights" was a great film, was it a close decision for you? I completely agree with you about "Spice World"!
Hello, here are a few more additions that I noticed I left out. Thanks.
1974 - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
1973 - The Way We Were
1972 - The Poseidon Adventure
1971 - A Clockwork Orange
1970 - Love Story
1969 - True Grit
1968 - Romeo & Juliet
1967 - Bonnie & Clyde
1966 - Torn Curtain
1932 - I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang
1927 - Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
1926 - La Bohème
Great idea...I'm in the process of doing this list myself, I guess great minds think alike! ;) Some great choices...glad to see 1986 contains Madonna's "Live To Tell" just a great song and also the incomparable Nina Simone's with 1965's "Strange Fruit", just haunting! I can't wait to see more!

Glad to know a fellow collector.
Nice list! You've got quite a collection of silent films. How long have you been collecting?
I look forward to it. Thanks! :)
I completely agree with all of your A+ picks!

I must agree with "Immortals", glad to see it rated well, good film!
Might I suggest you check out Lewis Milestone's "All Quiet On The Western Front", great film from 1930.

Glad to see someone else really enjoyed "Silent Hill"! I wonder how the sequel or prequel will fare?
Hello...I see you rated "Peacock" and "Catfish" pretty high, I've been wanting to see those two films. Is "Catfish" more of a docudrama than film?
