Do you mean, a list of movies that already exist and illustrate the history of the world? For example, all the movies about the different wars, in historical order? That would be interesting...
Sophie's Choice: Did you get the free copy with the weekend newspaper? I never buy newspapers but was going to buy it just to watch the DVD, but I forgot to pick up a copy!
Yeah, I know what you mean, it's not exactly a literary list. But anyone in Australia could vote, I expect a lot of kids voted for the HPs and Captain Underpants.
I just realised you asked the same question here, so I have cut and pasted my answer from the other list discussion:
I didn't enjoy Wuthering Heights much at all unfortunately. Didn't think much of the characters, couldn't be bothered caring if Heathcliffe and Cathy ever got together! Then again, I might be tempted to read it again, because I haven't read very many classics - maybe I just need to get used to the style.
I can't remember much about The Outsiders as I read it in high school, but do remember being impressed.
Hi! Thanks for the encouraging message. It's quite frustrating when you get to the point where you can't remember any more, or you can remember bits of books but not the author or title. There are a few on this list that I'm not sure I've remembered correctly... I'm forever searching Amazon and other lists of books and Googling character names etc. Sometimes I post a message on the Bookcrossing (www.bookcrossing.com) forum asking "if anyone knows the name of a book about..." and I've actually gotten a few answers this way!

Off topic, but I went to school with James Wan (Saw) and he was my date for the "prom" :-)
I think #39 Richard Hannay is from The Thirty-Nine Steps. I've read the book but haven't seen the movie yet!
I know what you mean, I've had to revise my list several times because I forgot my abc's :-)
You've got Holes on there twice ;-)

Here's a list someone else has compiled... http://www.filmsite.org/directorcameos.html
I'll put Mrs Dalloway and Howard's End on my To Be Read list, thanks for the suggestions.
As for why there is no African literature on my list, I haven't been to Africa, that's why! The list is called Countries I've travelled...

A good list! Each to their own, but how do you feel about reading women authors?
Pity you didn't finish 'Pillars of the Earth' or 'Memoirs of a Geisha', they are two that I particularly enjoyed.
