Yo Dark. quick question. You're saying that minimal and minimal techno or whatnot is sort sounding like trance used to... i sort of agree on some tracks, but don't you think progressive house is in fact sounding more and more like older trance stuff? I've given up on trance, the new stuff that is... and I think its best to just start looking towards other genres to find that old trance sound.
Simon Overdose, you beat me to it. Exactly, Marino Stephano. this list can't be considered complete without at least two of his tracks up there. Eternal Rhapsody, Vision Control, etc. gotta say darktremor, for someone who prides himself for knowing about trance, forgetting about the guy who could have been bigger than any DJ today is a big slip up.
by the way, you heard marcus schults new remix of Cass and slide perception? it takes out the vocals and makes it really a club hit. dono if you'll like it, but might as well check it out.
really on the border of trance here. even experts would confuse this stuff as techno or whatever. we all know its trance, but your taste is really borderline. which is good. but i assume you must like house as well, if not more huh?
Hey. Great list. I can tell you like James Holden. Me too, as you can see. Consider him the best DJ. Anyway, I think A break in the cloud should definitly be much higher up. And i know a lot of people like 93 returning mix best, but the original has that AMAZING xylophone melody that is just intoxicating. I dono, they both good. Anyway, your list is very melodic and not as gao/tribal influenced as DarkTremor's, so i like this better. good job. SUGGESTION: Sander Kleinenberg - My Lexicon ... it is amazing, and sorta like xpander. listen to it.
"Am i kidding" was a bad way to start it, i admit.
Been into trance for 8 years, probably not as long as you, but whatever, even if I had been listening for 19 years, I wouldn't let it go to my head like some people.
I wanted to clarify. Yes, I think Madagascar should have been a little higher, but whatever.
What i really want to discuss is why you don't like the Original mix of Nothing. I understand it is a preference, but is the vocal distortion the only reason you like the track in the first place? The original lyrics are top notch, the xylophone melody (i'm assuming that's what it is) offers a string of rhythm that has rarely been matched. That part actually makes the whole song for me. Anyway, just curious as to a more specific reason why you like 93 Returning better, because almost everybody prefers the 93, and i don't want to get a BS answer like usual from others.
look, this list is good, but too bias. Sorry man, but you need to take it easy on the goa/psych stuff. We know it is the origin of trance, but not all of those belong ahead of some pure classics from the latter 90s.
Madagascar at rank 46? dude, are you kidding me.
one major problem with the list is that you need to realize, predation doesn't equal better ranking. Age does not make a song better. It's ability to last a long time does, sure. But just because one song came before another and influenced a latter song (which happens to be better) then the better latter song should be ranked higher. Now, thanks for the list.
Suggestion: James Holden - Nothing (ORIGINAL MIX) should be ranked up there. 93 returning is very good. but Original is even better and needs a ranking of its own. Thanks.

Thanks for the list, but no need to be a prick.
Joker Jam - Innocence (2001) Progressive Trance (i think)
Do you think it should be fitted somewhere in there?
