i love the first 4 or 5 seasons of the simpsons but then it started going downhill. mr. show is GREAT! is freaks and geeks really good? i never saw it when it was airing on tv, but i have the first ep in my netflix queue.
Oh! Also, "Thirty days hath September/April, June and November." Followed sometimes by "All the rest have thirty-one except February" but that doesn't really rhyme well. Alternative non-verbal aid is to use your knuckles on your hands with the hills (knuckles) being 31 days and the valleys (dips) being 30 days so that the 1st knuckle is January at 31 days ending with July at 31 days then repeating from the beginning with August at 31 days, etc.
The Royal Houses of Britain: "No place like yours to study history well."
Normans, Plantagenets, Lancaster, York, Tudors, Stuarts, Hanoverians, Windsor.
The extended remix version of this is: I before E except after C, unless sounds like "ay" as in "neighbor" or "weigh". oh yeah, and don't forget "science". ;)
I totally agree with your Sin City assessment; all style and no substance. Heavy on innovation (I did dig the pure blackness of it all) and light on the plot, character development, motivation, etc. There really are only so many dismemberments I can handle. I admit to being one of those giggling viewers during the unintentionally funny scenes (pretty much all of the dialogue and most of the gore) and the intentionally funny (only one comes to mind: when a toadie gets shot by an arrow in the belly and displays a less-than-agitated response.
Perhaps for Argentina you could list "The Motorcycle Diaries" which, considering the roadtrip the characters went on, could be placed in several countries. Also, Evita.
Iran: White Balloon, Baran, The Color of Paradise
Spain: Talk to Her, Sexy Beast (Brits in Spain)
Turkey: Midnight Express
Tunisia: Star Wars (heh, I know, the story wasn't set there, but it certainly has great panoramic view of the country), The English Patient
Egypt: The Ten Commandments
Sushi is great. You may want to start out slowly with the Vegetarian Rolls and Tuna Rolls before venturing out to the Eel and straight up Sashimi. Just handle the wasabi delicately until you get used to the hotness. Bon Apetite.
i can't wait for 'serenity' - i miss joss.

eye-popping list. are there two versions of 'the royal tenenbaums'? you have it listed twice.
That book is one of the five I would take with me on a desert island. I *love* william goldman.
