Geez, I don't know of any parents personally who did that, but I do know a guy named Richard Richards. He told me his parents thought it was funny. And I know a kid whose parents named him Sherman just to 'toughen him up'. That's a terrible thing to do.
Ender's Game is a terrific work of fiction, and an exemplary work of science fiction. Orson Scott Card also penned The Tales of Alvin Maker, which isn't science fiction at all, and is another of my favorite books. Incidentally, my second daughter's name is Valentine, fron Ender's Game.
Because it was the first, and the purest, I chose Bottle Rocket. Plus, it's the movie that introduced me to Luke Wilson, that delicious dish of manmeat.
This is a very specific case of an actor who buys too much into his own hype. What a jerk. He better be careful, or he's gonna lose a lot of fans, and that equals losing revenue. Yeah, he's a good actor, but most moviegoers buy tickets to see actors they LIKE, not actors they respect as artists even though they're jackholes.

It was because of the book. In fact, my first daughter's name is Leisel, from The Sound of Music.

Peace Out.
