I think I must be the only person who liked "Lodger" the best of the three Berlin Albums and I think it should have replaced Young Americans, but that is just me. I can't decide if these are in order, but if they are, I'd put Hunky Dory second after The Rise and Fall.
If it was me, I'd have to add "Comfortably Numb", as covered by the Scissor Sisters. It is both irreverent and reverent at the same time, transforming the song to their own sound and yet remaining true to the original.
In the same vein, I believe that Friday on My Mind or Sorrow are both excellent covers by David Bowie, and just his whole "Pinups" album.
As much as I love "Pale Blue Eyes", I think "Venus in Furs" is the best love song by The Velvet Underground. Alternative love, granted, but still...
Seriously, though, I've always thought "Heroes" a touch overrated and actually prefer some of his earlier love songs, such as "The Prettiest Star".
And maybe "Love Song" by the Cure or "Gimme Danger" by The Stooges than that, great job!
