- Book titles that appear underlined when you scroll over will take you to a book review on my blog.
- A Storm of Swords - George RR Martin
- I stayed up until 3am to finish this monster of a book even though I had to work early the next morning. That should tell you how good it is. My favourite in the series by one of my favourite authors.
- Rating: 5/5
- A Brief History of Fighting Ships - David Davis
- A great book about the ins and outs of ships as well as accounts of famous naval battles. There are some dry bits but overall, interesting.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Beowulf
- I've read this poem so many times. Beowulf is such a badass. The language is gorgeous and this poem is definitely a READ ALOUD.
- Rating: 4/5
- The Three Musketeers - Alexandre Dumas
- Not as awesome as I was expecting. A little long-winded but then again I first got this story from a myriad of movies.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde
- A great book but perhaps had a bit too much going on. I would have preferred sticking with literary figures going in and out of books instead of werewolves, time travel, etc.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Othello - Shakespeare
- I honestly can't recall a thing from having read this. It either had no impact whatsoever or I need to read it again.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- A Feast for Crows - George R R Martin
- A somewhat disappointing fourth book in the series as it was originally a much larger story that had to be split in two and suffered in the sundering.
- Rating: 4/5
- The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas
- Same issues as with Musketeers. Bit long-winded, saw the movie first. Kind of ruined it for me.
- Rating: 3/5
- A Taxonomy of Barnacles - Galt Niederhoffer
- I thought this would be a quirky summer read about a cooky family but it ended up being boring and convoluted by the end.
- Rating: 2/5
- Elantris - Brandon Sanderson
- Good fantasy novel. Sanderson knows how to tell a story. Read this while in Greece.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Terrier - Tamora Pierce
- Pierce never disappoints. I've loved her books ever since I was a teenager. Read this in Greece.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- I Lucifer - Glen Duncan
- A great book with lots of sensory description. Satan is made mortal for a week to try it out and boy does he try it out! Read this in Greece.
- Rating: 5/5
- Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
- A plane read so it sufficed but not as interesting as The DaVinci Code though it was written before.
- Rating: 3/5
- Lyon's Pride - Anne McCaffrey
- Sci-fi spacey family has problems with aliens? I prefer McCaffrey's dragons to space adventures.
- Rating: 3/5
- Wit'ch Fire - James Clemens
- Persecuted girl with magical powers. Nothing really new here.
- Rating: 3/5
- Happiness - Will Ferguson
- Not much comes to mind when trying to recall this book. Obviously didn't enjoy it that much.
- Rating: 2.5/5
- The Romanov Prophecy - Steve Berry
- An interesting take on the Romanovs escaping. Highly improbable but enjoyable nonetheless.
- Rating: 3/5
- Knife of Dreams - Robert Jordan
- More drawn out drama from a series that should have been 7 books long at most.
- Rating: 3/5
- 1984 - George Orwell
- The first two-thirds were so great and then Orwell had to bring that stupid manual into the story.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Ten Little Indians - Agatha Christie
- Another of Christie's great stories. I had no idea 'who dunnit' until the very end.
- Rating: 5/5
- Hallowe'en Party - Agatha Christie
- A collection of Poirot stories. Cute.
- Rating: 3/5
- The Prince - Niccolo Machiavelli
- An interesting if manipulative take on how to control your people.
- Rating: 3/5
- Poirot's Early Case - Agatha Chritie
- Must not have been that great as this and "Hallowe'en Party" bleed together into one big book.
- Rating: 3/5
- The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger
- I honestly thought the movie was better.
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Od Magic - Patricia McKillip
- McKillip always has fantastical stories and characters and this one is no different.
- Rating: 3/5
- The Dragon Revenant - Katherine Kerr
- Another series that frustrates me about how long it takes to get anything done. Rhodry needs to go home, right now!
- Rating: 2.5/5
- The Stone Diaries - Carol Shields
- Canadian-Content. A great if somewhat sad read. Shields really knows how to tug at your heartstrings.
- Rating: 4/5
- The Know-It-All - AJ Jacobs
- One man's quest to read the entire Encyclopaedia Brittanica makes for a pretty funny book.
- Rating: 3/5
- The Film Club - David Gilmour
- Canadian-Content. I enjoyed the book but I wish there had been more about movies. Towards the end of the book it's more about what happens to his son and their relationship when orginally they started to bond over movies.
