  • Grokker browser (lots of fun, don't use it all the time)
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking - expensive microphone essential. Takes practice.
  • OmniPage - the best
  • Iris Pen - takes practice but essential.
  • NoteTab Pro - Can't live without it.
  • NotaBene - good program.
  • WinRar - good file compression.
  • KeyNote (use NoteTab more because can save to TXT but love KeyNote's features)
  • GearPlayer - foot pedal to transcribe interviews. Great product.
  • MusicMatch - to transform Sony Minidisk content to MP3 for transcription purposes.
  • Gaim - instant messenger
  • OpenOffice - always use the spreadsheet, tend to use other word processors more including Word.
  • Adobe Acrobat - works with my Fujitsu ScanSnap Scanner.

My setup is focused on interviewing, library research, and writing. I have an upgradeable DeskBook with a P4 processor and 1G RAM.
