Zadie Smith - On Beauty

This book is on the list of 1001 Books to read before you die.

Not only that, but it is listed Third on this list.

I just need to say this, I could not stand this book.

I started out liking it, but more and more the characters irritated and infuriated me.

Maybe this is a sign of a good book, meaning the stronger I felt towards them, the more real the characters had been written. This is all well and good, but I could not even finish it (which is VERY unlike me). I read about 3/4 and stopped.

I just had to get this out because so many people have raved about this book to me, and part of me felt guilty for not liking it more than I did.

Perhaps I should have seen it through, but I couldn't get past the sheer idiocy of the so-called scholarly men in this story.
