What I'm Listening to Today: 3/30/04
Mozart - Requiem - 8:55 A.M. - I have finished listening to Requiem for the first time and I have to advertise the fact that this is a brilliant and masterful piece of work. Highly emotional and contains wonderful choral work. Too often does classical music become a mindless background noise, even if unintionally it is easy to lose interest in a piece, but not Requiem. It stays with you. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that this was Mozart's final piece of work before his tragically young death. It was also unfinished. The way these performers and conductors have interpreted his composition is done beautifully. This is perhaps one of the most moving pieces of classical music I've heard. Perhaps I feel more for this music knowing that Mozart was about to die while he was in the middle of composing this piece.
Mozart - Piano Concertos Nos. 21 & 24 - 1:35 P.M.
Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 - 2:45 P.M.
