What I'm Listening to Today: 2/27/04
David Bowie - "Reality" - 1:00 P.M. - I'm getting prepared for St. Louis! In May, I'm heading to the David Bowie concert there. He's doing his "Reality" tour and I CAN'T wait!! "New Killer Star" is just a SPLENDID track. I love the mix of synthesized instruments with his multi-layered tracks and his awesome rock beat. And that trademark voice that other rock stars could only DREAM of. This man has his "groove on." The artwork on the CD is pretty cool, too. Very Picasso-esque. Duh, one of the tracks is named "Pablo Picasso." My favorite song on this album is "Never Get Old." David Bowie is definitely not showing any signs of aging in his music. In fact, he only gets better with age. I like his older material, but I'm a huge fan of his more recent work. Check out the fake skips in the beginning of "Pablo Picasso." I think it's hilarious! Some people thought there was a problem with their CDs and took them back to the stores! Good prank, David!

Oh yeah, I had heard Bowie did a cover of Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers' "Pablo Picasso." I don't suppose you've heard the original and could compare them for me?
I've never heard that version, before. Perhaps this will serve as motivation to give it a try, though! I'll see if I can find it and let you know what I think. Thanks for the recommendation, too!
