Mum - "Yesterday Was Dramatic Today Is O.K." - 2:20 P.M. - I've never heard of Mum, but a friend sent me this CD so I am giving it a try. Um, don't quite know what to call this. Strange definitely, at least so far. Basically it sounds like a bunch of sound effects trying to weave themselves into a melody. I am assuming this is Electronica? It is completely synthesized. I haven't heard a real instrument yet. It reminds me of a big tangle in my shoelaces that I can't get untied. I'm trying to make sense of this "music." You know that noise a dial-up modem makes when it's trying to connect? That's the perfect description of what I'm experiencing. Uh, Zack, you like weird stuff! This is probably today's version of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells."

Cat Power - "Moon Pix" - 4:00 P.M. - First impression, after only one minute of being "introduced" to Cat Power, is that it reminds me slightly of Alanis Morissette. Better make that a very mellow Alanis-type musician. Continued impressions of her are that she is a little crawling, perhaps slightly sleepy in her music. She would probably make good background music for a lazy evening at the bar. I guess she is an indie-artist? Zack gets me into all kinds of things. ;)

Natacha Atlas - 5:10 P.M. - This is a sampler CD for me to see if I like Natacha. All I have to say is, "OH MY GOODNESS." The Gods of the Mysterious and Seductive have created progeny, and that is Natacha Atlas. This is Indian music with a slightly Westernized flavor. Oh Dear. I may have a new addiction!!
