Vote for the Greastest Classic rock Frontman of all time!
Robert Plant~Led Zeppelin: What to say except for WOW....The man had a wonderful voice, style, and passion all in one. You listen to Stairway to Heaven and he pulls you right into the song. You listen to Achilles Last Stand and he has you in the mood to fight. He can make anything sound cool.
Steven Tyler~Areosmith: May not be much to look at, but he is amazing regardless. Definate Robert Plant influence on him, as he shares similar voice style, and manerisms on stage. Still original and powerful and way cool too.
Mick Jagger~Rolling Stones: Perhaps THE frontman. Whats there to say that already isn't obvious?
Freddie Mercury(RIP)~Queen: Getting alot of semi-feminine, high-voiced frontmen here. Oh well they all kick ass. I think he's the first one I've listed who doesn't play harmonica....Oh well Freddie is way cool
Ozzy Osbourne~ Black Sabbath: Though my respect for him as declined quite so, can't dent the greatness.
John Fogerty~Creedance Clearwater Revival: What passion from anyone, especially a white guy. Thumbs up John.
Jerry Garcia(RIP)~The Grateful Dead: He counts. He's great. Rest in peace Jerry.
Axl Rose~Guns 'N Roses: Included for being a jack-ass and a bad-ass
Jimi Hendrix(RIP)~Jimi Hendrix Expirience: Not really rememberd for his band but they kicked ass nontheless. I think Jimi helped invent 'frontman'
Bon Scott(RIP)~AC/DC: He has pretty much a cult following, though I'm more partial to.....
Brian Johnson~AC/DC: Took over after Bon died. Love his voice.
Kurt Cobain(RIP)~Nirvana: F'n revolutionized music. Damn well better respect him.
Jim Morrison(RIP)~The Doors: Not a big Doors man myself, but he has ALOT ALOT ALOT of strong fans.
Sting~The Police: Maybe isn't a frontman,(what frontman plays bass?) Maybe doesn't belong near the rest of these people, but regarless, here he is.
Roger Daltry~The Who: I don't much about The Who, much less if he is still alive or if the band was more focused on Pete Townsend. Sorry. Who expects him to win anyway?
David Lee Roth~Van Halen: VH1 would probably include him and put him #1 but that's because they suck. I love Eddie, not as big on David Lee Roth. I would also include Sammy Hagar and the other guy but I think David was a little better known.

I'm calling a "do over" on this list's discussion, and I've nuked the old discussion. If anybody wants to give it another go, remember that we discuss/critique the CONTENT here, not the AUTHOR of the content. Using that guideline, this discussion started on rocky ground, and then unsuprisingly degenerated from there.
Rather than deleting posts (as I've done her), another approach I've seen other site owners adopt is to visually flag flames instead. Doing so visually obscures such posts, albeit partially, and it marks them as inappropriate. It does leave the posts in place so that folks remain accountable for what they post. For example, a post might get marked up like so:
"XXX is fairly underrated. It's essentially a Bond movie that dares to have too much fun. You are just a stodgy old bastard for not liking it."
What do y'all think of this approach?
Thanks Jim. I'm glad to see you're back. I'm also glad you did what you did here. "Flagging flames" as in your example would be a good option. Although the offending language would suddenly become highlighted and marked through (perhaps with another color besides red), it could still be read and judged by the other members and let you off the hook as the sole censor, (which you may or may not be comfortable with).
On the other hand, leaving the offending language still readable might inspire unnecessary follow-ups defending or condemning the action. Perhaps eliminating the entire post might still be the best answer. Aren't you glad this rarely comes up?
While we're on the subject... Is it possible to have a post removed a few days after it has been posted? After I recieved such a strong reaction to my original opinion post here, I would have rather had it removed than face the follow-ups that were to come.
:-) Yeah, I am glad this rarely comes up. Hopefully it will continue to be rare enough that I don't have to implement some technical, formal solution.
Currently the only way to remove a post is to ask me to do it. I'm generally happy to do so, but it does get complicated when a post has replies. Then, to delete the post, I have to delete the replies as well, and those authors might not want me to (even if the originator of the thread does). In this case I was pretty comfortable making the judgement call and just deleting unilaterally, but other situations might be messier. In any case though, yes, if you want a post deleted, just ask me and I'll do what I can.
BTW, I'm glad you're back too. I thought for awhile there you had struck camp and moved on. It was nice to see your lists reappear.
