A Tribute to my College Music Influences

I love to play music critic now, but that's because I've built up a huge collection of music all at my finger tips. Alas, I was a clueless 13yr old at one time, a long time ago mind you, and I relied heavily on the kindness of strangers since I lacked the resources to keep up with my music habit. This a tribute to College, the best music and the best time of my life. Much thanks to all guilty parties and TDK blank tapes, Chrome of course.

College. Hunderds of Rooms and everyone had something I didn't have yet. I'm a musical sponge and college was a time of heavy saturation.

- Jules and Ivey, well rounded and mature, my only euro source, kept me up to speed on the Smiths, New Order, the Cure, the Pixies, the Police, the Sundays, Jaco, and other Jazz stuff. Love that Bass.

- Cool Guy, The complete music man, introduced me to a ton of stuff that I wouldn't appreciate until much later. I.E. The Dischord Catalog, the Specials, Matthew Sweet, Helmet, the Ramones, the Straight Edge Scene, and much more. Yes, everything is better with horns.

- Timmy, musical journeyman, kept me hooked on Bad Religion, Soundgarden, Nirvana, the Breeders, Smashing Pumpkins, and DC Hardcore. Also kept me going to all those club shows (Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Guru, etc).

- Dave P, my garage rock brother, kept me jammin' to the Beastie Boys, Dead Milkmen, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Clash, CCR, Rolling Stones, and They Might Be Giants.

- Cable, my granola connection, kept me diverse and mellow when I really needed it, kept me drowning in The Grateful Dead, Elvis Costello, Phish, Morrisey, Counting Crows, The Clash, Cat Stevens, and Sonic Youth.

- Duncan, a collector of all that can be, kept me grounded in guitar and other oddities, Stevie Ray, Dick Dale, Cracker, Cake, Afghan Whigs, Weird Al, TMBG, The Smithereens, etc.

- DC, my fellow rock club junkie, kept me looking for the perfect club band, Lucious Jackson, NOFX, Face to Face, Jesus Lizard, and many more.

- Buzz and J, the good natured brothers, kept the Cypress Hill, Led Zepp, Radio Head, Parliament/Funkadelic, and Blow Fly grooving.

This barely covers it but it's a nice start.
Thanks to all that let me borrow your stuff (and on occasion dub it). You made me the man I am today ;)

You should get some of these folks to kick in some lists!

Amen to that, especially Dave P. and Duncan! :-)
