Taxi Trailer Anomaly
Ok... It was about two in the morning one night, and i was flipping through the stations, when i come accross the beautiful kerri kasem talking about a new jimmy fallon movie on coming attractions... I become interested, mostly because I had heard of a farrely brothers movie he was supposed to star in about the red sox(i'm from new england)... so i started watching, here comes this trailer, and right away i know it's a different movie... But, SURPRISE! it looks great, jimmy fallon is a screw up cop in New York City and he loses his license, looks like some pretty funny potential... the mistake was, i kept watching after the first minute, I swear to god, i stood up and gave a loud "WHAT!?" and actually woke my brother, who was asleep in the chair beside me... If you haven't seen this longer trailer, you have to... it looks so promising... and then in pops Queen Latifah, the Queen of ruining movies... and no more than 5 seconds later the car is turning into a supertaxi, equipped with every thing a black millionaire could imagine, who just happens to be driving a taxi... then she says "buckle up for safety MotherF---er"... 2 minutes of high speed car chases, half naked supermodels, and the stupidest Latifah one-liners i've heard(which is really saying something) follow. My mouth hung open at how far into the BS this trailer had fallen into... i just imagined the guy at the studio pitching an idea for jimmy fallon to be a screwup cop who loses his license and has to take an everyday taxi with some stereotypical wild taxi driver to crime scenes... then the big whigs say "I love it! Let's just add Queen Latifah as the taxi driver and pimp the taxi with some bling... oh, oh... and some half naked supermodels as the burglars"... next big whig "what about car chases, we could have mack trucks, by-standers, dump trucks, hostages... oh, and how about an unfinished bridge to jump over"... and there it was being greenlit for production... sometimes I wonder what people are thinking... I was so upset after the trailer, because i wanted to see a jimmy fallon screw up cop movie, but i didn't want to see this movie.
