This off beat love story between a self-mutilating woman (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and her first boss (James Spader) proves that not all love is sexual. This low budjet film is daring and visually beautiful. The director cearly copies the greats in his attention to detail and uses his lens to show interesting and erotic metaphor using everyday objects. Normalizing fetishism, without too much skin...thought it was GREAT!
