RUSHMORE
Plotline : Teenage Boy Max Fischer, falls in love with his teacher, Miss.Cross but has to fight for her attention with his friend Mr.Herman Blume.
STARRING : Jason Schwartzman / Olivia Williams / Bill Murray
Well im flipping through the Sky Channels and see 'Royal Tenenbuams', ive heard of this movie before and always wanted too see it and was pleased i did as it became my fave film of all time. So then i looked up the Director Wes anderso and heard about his 2 other movies Bottle Rocket & Rushmore. I first saw bottle rocket again on sky movies and loved it! then i thought well i just have to see Rushmore and after searching in the stores i found it only for only ?6.99!! and thought well i have to get it. So a got home fired up the old DVD palyer, got some chips, dip and cola & was ready to watch.
So it starts..and about 1hour and 30 mins later it finished.
And i didnt like it. AT FIRST i might add. i found it to be too dull and slightly depressing, but after i watched it for a secand time, i saw how great it is. In this secand viewing i saw how brilliant it was,the way its shot, the jokes, the style everything. it is one of the most stylish, original and beautiful movies ive seen. its at tmies Sweet but deffinatly has attitude to it. The Actions of Max,Pinnig for Miss cross had me in tears of laughter! it is displayed well and with its own style witch makes it all the better. Its up front approach mixed with beautiful camera work and style make this such an appealing film.
Bill murray is great as Mr.Blume, is great, one of his best performances. just great. The Character study is top notch and the relationship between Max, Blume & Miss Cross is great. it works on many different levels.
You Have Max, who respects mr.blume but in contrast you see that acually its mr.blume who looks up too max and respects him. then you have miss cross who dos'nt really feel much for any of them but is like mr.blume in that she is somewhat lost and confussed and it seems like they both find eachother and understand more through Max. it is a well observed and excuted move.
Now id had a busy day, the first time i saw it so i think that effected my view of the movie but its now one of my fave movies of all time, a classic. just great.
I Give Rushmore ..********* 1/2 (9 and a half stars
