DONNIE DARKO (2001)

Poltline : Troubled kid, Donnie Darko is sent through a Emotional roller-coaster of love, hate and all emotions inbetween, all lead by his friend..Frank.

STARRING: Jake Gyllenhaal / Jena Malone / Mary McDonnell / Drew Barrymore / Patrick Swayze

This Film has been viewed by many as a masterpiece, brilliant and beautiful and..i agree
, completely.
What i like most about this movie is not the strange ideas and amazing camera tricks or the idea of time-travel, which are all amazing and well presented, what i love about this movie is the relationship Between the 2 main characters Donnie (Gyllenhal) and Gretchen (Malone). The relationship is well observed and all of the social actions taken by both are very believable of a Teenage relationship.
This movie is moody, dark and visualy, breathtaking. The Story is one like no other and Frank, Donnies 'imaginary' friend Frank, has become a cult character.
Now i warn you though this film is very confussing. i think i have the right idea but some aspects of the movie but rest is confussing as hell, but i wont spoil it so my lips are closed :)

This film wasnt a big hit at the box office though, but through word of mouth of the few who did see it, it became a cult classic. much like "The Shawshank redemption" before it. this movie is dark, moody but also..funny. it has some great lines that will also crack you up!the 80s tunes used are great and helps spread some light on what is a dark and moody movie.

This is a masterpiece of film and i urge you to see it now.

So to finish, im not going to give this a rating of stars..all i can say is, its a masterpiece , beautiful, confussing but amazing all the same..in my top 5 films of all time

FAVE LINE :
Donnie's mum:our son just called me a bitch
Donnies Dad: your not a bitch, your bitchin' but your not a bitch

Wow. On of the top 5 films of all time? Seriously?

Well, it's your choice.

yup top 5, im serious. top 5.

i liked the emotions that were displayed and the dark humour appealed to me. i thought it was well shot and displayed the best display of a 'time travel' theory ive seen in cinema, but yes my top 5.
