Review: "A.I."

A.I. is a film that has a lot of potential, it unfortunately implodes and turns into a failed mess of a movie.
I really wanted to like A.I., I was hoping and praying that it would be great. I love Jude Law and Haley Joel Osment, and Spielberg doing a Kubrick sounded great.
Here's how (in relation to the two film makers) the movie breaks down:

First Third - E.T. meets Eyes Wide Shut (good)
Second Third - Clockwork Orange meets Jurrasic Park (great)
Last Third - 2001 meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind (terrible)

In the case of the third part, the sum of the two parts excedes the whole. You would expect good things from an ending described as 2001 and Close Encounters. But no, it must be the most destructive ending in cinema history. The movie was very, very good, then turned into an imploded mess that was very, very hard to watch.

I just have this to say: It could have been so good.
