Hogfather, Terry Pratchett

Certainly appropriate for this time of year. Twenty pages in I was already starting to see why so many people say this is their favorite Pratchett... And thinking my quotes from books list is in serious danger if I don't get seriously discriminating about the passages I want to write down.

~Update~ Okay, so the reason this book seems so familiar is not, in point of fact, because I've just read way too much Pratchett. Last night I found my copy, with a bunch of quotes tagged. Heh.

Sick Puppy, Carl Hiaasen

Handed to me by a coworker... Not sure yet about it, but willing to try.

~Update~
Dude. A quasi-homicidal environmentalist protecting little sandbar islands in Florida. This book was totally written for my wife.

I think Carl goes on my list of authors to read again.... That was a fun book.

The Little Friend, Donna Tartt

Um, yeah, what she said. It's... too good an invocation of that part of the world. I'm still reading, but it's slow and heavy and effortful... I like Harriet. I like... the Donna Tartt-ness of the book.... and I suffer occasionally from an over-abundance of commitment, so I won't stop reading. I'm just looking forward to my next book. I might just have to follow this one with Texas Hero. Dammit. ;)

~Update~
It's actually gotten a bit better in the last chapter or so, and I seem to be moving a bit faster through it.

Hm. Okay. I would have liked more answers....

Cloned From:

"At the stroke of eleven on a cool April night, a woman named Joey Perrone went overboard from a luxury deck of the cruise liner M V Sun Duchess. Plunging toward the dark Atlantic, Joey was too dumbfounded to panic.
I married an asshole, she thought, knifing headfirst into the waves." --Skinny Dip, Carl Hiaasen

:) That was the other one he offered... sounds like I'm gonna have to take him up on that.

You have so much reading to do.

Thank all that's holy.
