Proudest Moments of Influencing what Movies my Friends Watch

_A bit of explanation: my friends aren't aware there's anything but new releases in a video store. I'm sure they've seen fewer than a dozen films from before 1970. They're bored by Taxi Driver. In theaters, they see all the movies that get terrible reviews and love them. It's great that they have less well-developed defenses against having a good time than I do, but as you can imagine, it's hard for us all to agree on movies we all want to see (whether renting or in theaters). But on some rare occasions, I can pull enough weight to get them to see a really great movie that they'd never see otherwise, and I'd like to brag about it:

1. I was 14 or so, it was MY overnight birthday party, so I got to pick the movie. I picked Hitchcock's The 39 Steps! They all HATED it ('worst Hitchcock movie ever'), and I thought it was great. MUAHAHAHA! You just watched a movie from 1935! Almost certainly the oldest movie ANY of them had ever seen.

2. Just about a year ago, I convinced some of my friends to watch Requiem for a Dream with me (I'd already seen it). They were grossed out and were amusingly on edge whenever they thought they were going to see penis, but at least my brother thought it was a good, if 'harsh' movie.
