My thoughts on the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn"
Movie: From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Director: Robert Rodriguez
Starring: George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin
Watched this the other night with a buddy. I am great a fan of Quentin Tarantino, and I love everything he does. However, this movie is kind of two-faced. The first half deals with the notroious Gecko Brothers, and thier dealings with crime and thier hostage family, the Fullers. This is extremely interesting and entertaining, and I just wished the second half was more like the first. As the Bros. and Fullers make thier way to the rendezvous point, a crazy titty bar south of the border, everyone suddenly turn into the vampires and epic battles ensue and no one is spared, except of course George Clooney and Juliette Lewis. Why? Because they are you're action-movie hero and attractive female, which grants them action-movie immunity.
I'm not saying the movie is bad, I'm just saying I liked the direction it was going to start with so much, then it took this crazy 180 degree swerve that wasn't quite as entertaining. Not that is wasn't but the first half was more like Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs, while the second half was more like Evil Dead.....or Evil Dead 2. I read online that Quentin might be interested in making a Gecko Brothers film, and if he does I will be the first in line to see it. George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino himself play the brothers Gecko, Seth and Richard, and they both are amazing. Clooney really excels in a more 'bad-boy' type role, and Quentin brings much depth and intrest into his almost-loveable sex-offending Richard gecko. Cheech Marin also plays three freakin' roles in the movie, my guess is that they couldn't find enough mexican actors. Juliette Lewis, very beautiful in this movie, and a solid performance too. Good flick, as with all Quentin Tarentino stuff, though is oviously plagued by those issues (...though not Quentin Tarantino-directed movie, it was written By him and Quentin had much input in what happened to as I understand). It get a 7/12, because of its un-evenness, and other faults.

"i'm not saying this movie is bad"... c'mon you can admit it... i can see liking the first half a little... but the second half should never be shown again.
Second half does suck, but I sort of have a thing for movies where the heros are trapped and solve problems and stuff. Like I LOVE all three Tremors movies, Jurassic Park I and II (Not three, even I didn't like that) Godzilla and Gremlins. So I can watch the second half, and almost enjoy it....almost....
i loved it but i had to forget it was a tarantino flick to do so :)
