    What I Got

?'s Mix ~ Disc was labeled III and had some little, squiggly, red lines on it that I didn't notice at first. The back of the insert said "Listen first..."

    Track by Track

  1. P.D.Q. Bach - New Horizons in Music Appreciation ~ I'd heard of PDQ Bach but I'd never heard him. This track is a great way to start this electic mix and Stephanie and I were quite amused.
  2. Abdel Ali Silmani - Zeyna ~ Not an artist I was familiar with but I did like the song. Most of the time I do like "world" music and this time was no different.
  3. Billy Strayhorn - Tailspin ~ Old-timey jazz piano. Liked it well enough.
  4. Don Byron - Sweet and Gentle ~ Probably my favorite song on the disc. Made me want to research the artist whom I'd heard of but never heard. Was not suprised after hearing the Jewish influences in the song to see it tie back to someone named Mickey Katz. Simply awesome fun music.
  5. Maktub - You Can't Hide ~ Very good neo-soul song.
  6. The Golden Gate Hubilee Quartet - Gospel Train ~ It's fun to to hear old music like this.
  7. Graham Colton Band - Jessica ~ Straightfoward pop song about a girl.
  8. Sarah Vaughn - The Trolley Song ~ Knew the song but not this version. We sang along loudly in the car.
  9. Gigi - Guramayle ~ Another good "world" music tune. I really liked this woman's voice. Even though the lyrics were in an unfamiliar language her voice had a little Tracy Chapman timber to them.
  10. Sister Rosetta Tharpe - We Shall Overcome ~ I liked this alot.
  11. Death by Chocolate - Ice Cold Lemonade ~ Couldn't figure out whether this song was really from the 60's or just sounded like it. Would have fit in well with the food and drink CDs I wanted to make for my wedding reception which I never got to do because my computer died.
  12. The Special AKA - Nelson Mandala ~ Finally a song and artist I have heard before. Good song.
  13. Lambert Hendricks & Ross - Caravan ~ Funny hearing Caravan here as I had a version on the disc I made as well. I couldn't figure out whether to take this rendition seriously or not. It was a fun listen, though.
  14. Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise - Trouble Brother ~ Good background music.
  15. The Dmitri Pokrovsky Ensemble - Porushka ~ Bad background music. I was just getting ready to hit forward when I thought I bet you it's going to stop right now and it did. Russian folk music maybe?
  16. Poor Righteous Teachers ~ Can You Feel It - Clearly talented rappers but the lyrics weren't cutting it when I listed to it at the office. I need to hear the song all of the way through before passing judgement.
  17. Djivan Gasparyan & Michael Brook - Forbidden Love ~ Very good background music.
  18. Susan Tedeschi - Little By Little ~ Basic roots rock. Good for a listen.
  19. De La Soul - The Magic Number ~ I know this song but had not heard this re-mix. Glad when the rap kicked in and I realized I still knew all of the words even after 15 or so years. I really like this version alot.
  20. Heidi Berry - Up In The Air ~ Pretty good atmospheric song.
  21. Buffy Saint Marie - Darling Don't Cry ~ A Native American lament? Glad to hear it.

    Overall
The mixmaster of this disc definitely has a broad taste in music and I was glad to hear almost everything on this disc. I always say that if I had a choice I'd rather listen to music I've never heard before then music I've heard over and over. This disc definitely helped me reach towards that goal. Thanks whomever you are!!!
