Forum: Weird Al Yankovic's Next Album
Weird Al Yankovic has announced that his newest album will come out on May 20th, 2003. I'm using this as a place for discussion of song parodies. Feel free to post any predictions about what songs he will parody or just what it would be fun to see Al parody. You don't have to be familiar with Weird Al to post here.
As for what I think:
With the success of "All About the Pentiums", Weird Al will probably try spoofing another rap. Possibly Nelly's "Hot in Herre" or Eminem or 50 Cent or something of that nature.
He will probably spoof one of the crappy teenybopper artists that are popular now, like the Backstreet Boys or NSYNC or Britney Spears. Personally, I think it would be funny to hear him spoof Avril Lavigne.
I would really like to hear Weird Al do a Dave Matthews parody. Dave has a new album out, "Busted Stuff", that would be ripe for spoof.
How funny would it be to hear a parody of a song from Springsteen's latest album, "The Rising"?
"The Saga Begins", a parody of the classic "American Pie", was very popular on Al's last album. Maybe a spoof of another classic song is in store? I know there's a rising surge of Beatlemania, and Paul McCartney has that new live album out. I've heard that Paul McCartney is rather supportive of Weird Al. Perhaps a McCartney or Beatles parody is in the works. I've got my fingers crossed.
Perhaps a Norah Jones parody? She did sweep the Grammys. Or Jennifer Lopez. I dunno. What do the rest of you think? I know I'm not the only Weird Al fan on this site.

OH--MY--GOD
???
Or perhaps not. To the archive with ye!
This idea never took off, and I sent it to the archive. But now that I have found a track listing for Al's latest album, I'd just like to boast about the fact that I nailed a lot of them.
1. As I predicted, he's doing a parody of Nelly's "Hot in Herre"
2. He's parodying Eminem, specifically "Lose Yourself"
3. He's parodying the Backstreet Boys, specifically "I Want It That Way"
4. He's parodying Avril Lavigne, specifically "Complicated"
5. He is parodying a classic song, though not McCartney or the Beatles. He's doing a parody of Billy Joel's "Piano Man"
Though no Dave Matthews, Springsteen, or Norah Jones, my predictions were pretty accurate.
