Evolution is the Solution
Two days ago, I saw Evolution and, quite frankly, it made me want to cry a little. Why? It was heavily nostalgic for me, bringing back the greatest film of all time: Ghostbusters. Yes, Ghostbusters. There are some scenes which are a tribute to Ghostbusters, one of which being the scene where the three guys: Ira Kane (David Duchovny), Harry Block (Orlando Jones), and Wayne Grey (Seann William Scott) get into a mall battle with a flying, raptor-like alien. After shooting the alien to death, it feels like Bill Murray is going to come on set and say, "We came, we saw, we kicked its a**!" But, instead of doing that, the Alienbusters get in a Jeep and sing "Play That Funky Music, White Boy." That's how much it feels like that movie of yesteryear.
Here's the most important thing: If you want to see a Ghostbusters III, GO SEE THIS FILM. I've heard rumors that if Evolution works out, Sony will greenlight the GB3 project.
Aside from the Ghostbusters thing, this movie is very good. The special effects are some of the most rich ones out there, giving a person tons of beautiful eye candy to look at. The jokes are mostly hilarious and in some scenes you will be jumping right out of your seat with fright.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (violence, language, crude humor, and brief nudity)
My Rating: ***1/2 (out of ****)
