E! online has a list of the top 10 great TV shows that shouldn't have been cancelled but were. Unfortunately, they left out one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time, Newsradio.
Of those listed, I'm quite sorry I missed The Ben Stiller Show. I suspect News Radio lasted for too many seasons to qualify for the list (and I agree that it was marvelous).
On a semi-related note, I can't believe Homicide: Life on the Streets lasted as long as it did. I think their first 2 seasons were perhaps the finest dramatic seasons ever. And the show was on the brink of cancellation for pretty much its entire run. An eventual slight decline in quality (still leaving it one of the best shows around), and departure of some key stars killed it, I think.
I still mourn Cupid. A firnd and I were able to remeber every single episode (knowing there were 14) without even looking them up the other night, we loved it so much. I'm cherishing the really hopeless thought that now that Paula Marshall has left Snoops (and it was canceled) and Jeremy Piven isn't involved in a series, maybe they could revive it. I've never heard of a series being revived after a year off the air, but there's a first time for everything, right? If only they would . . .
