Chess

I'm in a mood today... Wow!

Well, here is the vague idea. Does anyone wants to play chess with me? I mean via Internet (Listology, E-Mail or MSN). I'm not very good at it, but it could be fun. So if someone is interested. It's very simple.

Thanks in advance.

I'll play. I was the chess champ of my elementary school, but haven't really played since then.

Cool. For the number codes of the different fields, should we use this one? And how will we do it? Here on? E-Mail? MSN? I'm open for everything.

But I tell you, I am really bad. You were chess champ? Then this will be pretty easy for you. But why not? Lets go.

Note: Other listologists are kindly invited to join us, by either playing against pianoshootis or me. The latter will be by far less challenging.

Here's fine. You go first since you claim to be really bad.

I've always wanted to do a chess by mail game. My biggest concern would be one of us making a mistake and our boards looking different.

That can of course happen. Right now I have a chess board next to me. So lets see how far we'll get.

I begin:

pawn D2 to D4

knight B8 to C6

knight G1 to F3

pawn d7 t d5

pawn e2 to e3

pawn e7 to e6

bishop f1 to d3

bishop f8 to b4 check

Damn (I told you...). pawn c2 to c3

bishop d4 to a5

small rochade (does that go, and do you call it like that in English?)

We usually call it castling. I had to look up the word rochade; I like it better.

pawn f7 to f6

thx

pawn b2 to b4

bishop a5 to b7

b7 or b6?

b6, sorry

Oof... pawn b4 to b5

knight c6 to e5

pawn d4 beats knight e5?

pawn f6 takes pawn e5

knight f3 takes pawn e5

queen d8 to h4

Oh no, the queen...

pawn a2 to a4

pawn c7 to c6

rook a1 to a3

bishop b6 to c7

knight e5 to f3

queen h4 to h6

pawn e3 to e4

pawn d5 takes pawn e4

edit: ahh, you got me, I didn't see that

bishop d3 takes pawn e4

queen h6 to h5
thought you were going to take her

no, then you'd have taken my bishop. A bishop for a queen...but still...I love my bishops and rooks.

pawn h2 to h3

knight g8 to f6

bishop e4 to c2

small rochade

I'm afraid, but I'm running out of time right now. So what do we do? Postpone the rest of the game to tomorrow?

I don't know if tomorrow would be good for me. How long are you willing to leave the board out?

Well, I have the chess board next to me and I can leave it there as long as you want to.

Today I could probably be back in...lets say...4:30 PM (Listology time)...but then only for an hour or so...

An hour probably wouldn't be enough to finish. If you don't mind we could leave it for weeks and months or however long it takes to finish.

No problem. I really hate to leave now, but I have no choice.

I also think that we don't have to be both online at the same time. For example: Tomorrow I'll do my next manoeuvre, and you whenever you want to... I think we have enough time to finish it. OK?

If so, "see" you sometime. But don't forget. :)

And thanks for playing.

Sure thing. I won't forget.

Rook a3 to b3

knight f6 to g4

knight f3 to d2

queen h5 to e5

rook b3 to b4

queen e5 to h2, and I believe that's mate

It is. :(

Well-played. It was fun. Congrats!

Thanks, and thanks for the game. I thought you had it when you got a piece up on me.

Hey, this is just a guess on my part, but don't be surprised if Jim says nix to this in future.

Right now, I'm a little slow off the mark, bertie... Did I do sth. wrong?

yocineo, ¿y tú?

I'm not complaining mind you, it's just that your game only involved two people and it did hog the 'Recent Posts' page(s) while it lasted.

Oh, I didn't think of that. But this won't happen again because the game pianoshootis and I had, will go on in irregular steps.

Sorry, for any inconveniences, Jim.

It's a minor matter to me - and perhaps to Jim too. Probably I shouldn't presume to speak on Jim's behalf, so just ignore me.

How could I ignore the Grand Listosopher?

I like the novelty of it, but yeah, as a regular thing it would probably get old to have the recent updates hijacked by chess moves. :-) By all means, finish this one though! We can't leave Listology's first chess match incomplete. I want to see who wins.

Cool. The point is that I hadn't thought of the "recent posts"- feature when I made this. From now on, this match will only continue in irregular moves.
