BobGoblin Rock Bio

Some members of The Black Market Party have attributed BOBGOBLIN'S sound to such 20th Century rock styles as the 1970's glam of David Bowie, the punk of The Clash, Killing Joke, and The Buzzcocks, as well as the eraly-1980's rock sound of The Cars and Cheap Trick. BOBGOBLIN admit that they have, in the process of rediscovering a multitude of 20th Century and 21st Century musical types, been influenced by the most passionate examples of such music. However, BOBGOBLIN are quick to point out that their musical influences are of broader a variety. One Black Maket Party critic incitefully noticed an orchestral side to BOBGOBLIN, describing their music as "frank power-pop with relentless hooks that have a romantic, Wagnerian feel." Though one must dig a little harder to find it in the music, some of the band's members are even devoted listeners and practitioners of Jazz. Yes - hard to believe - but under the crunching guitars and that cynical rock n' roll angst, BOBGOBLIN try to infuse their energetic, issue-oriented songs with a sense of musicality, using chromaticism and subtle modulations to take the melodic message to a new, rock level.

Though made up of only one guitar, bass, drums, and one vocal, BOBGOBLIN have a passion for wrenching the maximum amounts of emotion and drama out of each song and each performance. The result of this passion is a large, hard driving, power-pop sound, accentuated by strong, colorful melodies and hooks meant for for stopping rockets.

Though BOBGOBLIN take their lyrical message very seriously, they try to stay off of the Black Market Party soapbox, often preferring instead to purvey it's message by rocking for rock's sake. With this in mind, BOBGOBLIN don their Liberation Front States Motor Forces uniform as a jab at the harshly conservative States of the Republic, and aggressively take the stage, firing off power-chord after satirical power-chord at the disturbed characters which live in each of the band's songs.
