Dear, Listology,
I'm in the market for a software program that I can use to record streaming audio off of the Internet and to my computer's hard drive. Specifically, there's an important radio program which will remain archived online for 7 days but at the end of this week it's going to go away and I want to grab a copy to listen to at a later date. It would be great if I could get an all-purpose streaming audio recorder which would work well with radio-quality streams as well as high-quality streams but if the best it can do is deal well with radio-quality that's OK for now, too. As always freeware is preferred but I'm always willing to pony up money for category killers.
Thanks In Advance,
Dan

I use CocoSoft Stream Down, and it's worked like a charm for me, but since I moved to dialup I haven't used it much, so I haven't put it through the broadest range of performance tests. If you like the trial version, I could also send you a fully-functional, free copy of version 3.3, or you could shell out $39 for version 5.0.
Maybe someone else knows of a great freeware tool to do the same job, though. I seem to remember some way of using a diskwriter plugin with Winamp, too, but I haven't used Winamp for more than a year.
Thanks, lukeprog. I knew there was one you had mentioned before but I forgot the name. I'll take a look at it.
Have you looked at Total Recorder?
Shalom, y'all!

Thanks for the link, L. I downloaded and installed it and immediately became overwhelmed with it. :-) I'm sure I can figure how it works but it might be a lot more than what I need.
I can imagine that. It comes highly cheered from my audiophile friends, which usually means more power, better fidelity, and less user-friendly interfacing.
Good luck!

I found an open source streaming mp3 recorder called Streamripper. I haven't tried it yet though. I'm still looking for the ultimate tool.
