  • 10. Aquatonic (feat Nick Muir - unreleased dub)
  • Album: Bedrock 11
  • Artist: John Digweed
  • Genre: Progressive House/Techno/Tech House/Minimal
  • Year: Oct. 2009
  • Why?: This is one of those house songs that you listen to and very quickly get addicted to. I find myself not listening to this song for several days, then I find it on my ipod and bam - I'm listening to it nonstop for an hour. The song is very well done, and I'd go as far as to say this is my favorite song on the album. It doesn't make me want to dance per se, but it sure as hell makes me want to move my body.

  • 9. Graze
  • Album:Fall Be Kind
  • Artist: Animal Collective
  • Genre: Indie Rock
  • Year: 2009
  • Why?: Holy fucking shit. I listened to this album while being baked off my ass (I have a med card, so many stories this year involve me being baked off my ass - just so you know what lies ahead :)) and this song amazed me, I felt like I had just been introduced into an orchestral heaven (even though there is no real orchestra here), and when the drums started and the little flute started playing I just started laughing so hard, but at the same time I thought I was in a pinkish kind of haze, and the moment his voice started i just fell to the floor out of pure...awesomeness. I listened to this album 4 times straight in a row that day. The rest of the songs are just as amazing by the way, but Graze just took me completely by surprise, I'm not sure why since it is AC.

  • 8. Deranged
  • Album:Tumult
  • Artist: Derango
  • Genre: Dark Psytrance
  • Year: 2005
  • Why?: So I originally found this album off of karan129's list, and thought it was pretty good. I'm even pretty certain I put this on one of my other lists, but it seems to be such a huge hit with my friends (and their friends, and well, you get the point) that I will give it another spot on this list. I have several reports that my friends play this song after a rave on the drive home. One said that they were all still rolling balls and I guess the rave was playing shitty shit. Well, I'm known for having trippy shit, and good trippy shit. So I guess he plugs this album in and it did what it does best, make you trip so hard you have no idea what's going on anywhere. He tells me that some people in the back were basically having orgasms, which I can believe since I've experienced those 'orgasms' while listening to this song baked :P.

  • 7. Money
  • Album: Dark Side of the Moon
  • Artist: Pink Floyd
  • Genre: Psychedelic Rock/Prog Rock
  • Year: 1973
  • Why?: I know this entire song by heart. I've listened to Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, A Saucerful of Secrets, and DSOTM is still, hands down, my favorite album by Pink Floyd. Don't tell me this is just crappy mainstream, because when you got this song playing in full surround sound and you are the only one in the house, and you are baked off of some mighty King Louie you are 100% going to be running around the house acting like a total rock star, feeling like God, and wishing he existed. This song gives me the chills, and the thrills at the exact same time.

  • 6. I Cut Like A Buffalo
  • Album: Horehound
  • Artist: The Dead Weather
  • Genre: Blues Rock/Garage Rock
  • Year:2009
  • Why?: Because this song (album, actually) will take your face and smash it into the earth. That's how down to earth this album is. I feel like dancing hardcore at one time, but feel like basking in the 'badassness' of the album at the same time. So Far From Your Weapon is also amazing, but really, they all are. This album really deserves an award. If you listen to it baked you will feel your whole body going to the beat, and will feel a crap-load of pent up energy that you just want to go crazy with, which was difficult to do my first time I listened because I was in the passenger seat of a car. The experience was amazing though, because if you are in a car while being baked, you are basically on a ride :P.

  • 5. Oxygene (Part II)
  • Album: Oxygene
  • Artist: Jarre, Jean Michel
  • Genre: Abstract/Synth-pop
  • Year: 1977
  • Why?: It's on Darktremor's top 100 ele. albums of all time. That sold it to me pretty quick, but I actually found out it was on his list after I heard it like three times already. When first listenening to this I found myself wanting to hate it ufor some reason. I remember thinking "wtf is this, I bet this guy thinks he's such hot shit for being able to play a keyboard", but when I finally opened my mind (aka got high - you (the reader) must be like "yeah no shit I get it already") I found the long vast clouds that stretched as far as the eye could see. I understood. The guy is like 60 something and he looks 40 too. He's earned his status as a musical genius, and if his ego really is as big as I think it is, then he deserves it.

  • 4. Arrow Head
  • Album: Self-Titled
  • Artist: Woven Hand
  • Genre: Folk Rock
  • Year: 2002
  • Why?: The way his voice goes from low to high, the way the music seems to flow out of him, and how it just all works so perfectly. WH may be one of my favorite folk rock bands I have heard this year (yeah, I know I'm 8 years late, but better late than never). Anyone who likes indie/folk needs to give this album (or at least this artist) a good listen. Addicting while high.

  • 3. Sleepyhead
  • Album: Manners
  • Artist: Passion Pit
  • Genre: Leftfield/Pop Rock/Synth-pop/Indie Rock
  • Year: 2009
  • Why?: Because when a song sounds like this I come to the conclusion that this is what pop should sound like. It sounds familiar to Air France, but if you think you can compare it, don't get your hopes up. They utilized every instrument perfectly for this song, and it's understandably one of their most popular songs. I've had this on repeat dozens of times. Perfect background and foreground music.

  • 2. Soms
  • Album: Necotine
  • Artist: Hermanez
  • Genre: Progressive House/House/Tech House
  • Year: 2010
  • Why?: Dance. Dance. Dance. Dance. Dance. This is what the song tells me (not literally) the entire time. I feel a need to move my body, like if I don't my body will be taken away from me because I did the song no justice. At the 2:30 mark where "better walk me home" starts kickin' in I feel a huge desire to just go fucking crazy dance. Like a primal desire, I just don't know how else to put it. This song was made to get your ass on the dance floor.
  • Mediafire: Here Note: Does not contain the song Necotine.
  • 1.5 Bay of Pigs
  • Album: Bay of Pigs
  • Artist: Destroyer
  • Genre: Ambient/Indie Rock/Indie electronic
  • Year: 2009
  • Why?: This song is tied for the #1 placement on this list, as I struggle to find better songs than this one and OAR 003B. This song stunned me the first time I listened to it, and it still gets me every time. It is constantly evolving, but it feels as if it was meant to go into the direction it goes. One of the most beautiful songs I have heard this year, and one of my staple songs to listen to while high. If you haven't listened to this gorgeous piece of work, then you need to download it immediately. His voice will send you through space and back. This song almost makes you feel enlightened, if that's the correct term for it :).

  • 1. OAR 003B
  • Album: OAR 003
  • Artist: AYHUN, Oni
  • Genre: Minimal/Techno
  • Year: 2009
  • Why?: Allow me to use Darktremor's words: "Wow, you're right. I'm totally blown away by this. What a deeply beautiful track. Seriously. This almost brings tears to my eyes. And it never stops being great, and it never feels repetitive (and in fact, it isn't repetitive at all). I'm reminded of the first time I heard Sasha's Xpander, and Humate's Love Stimulation, both almost transcendental experiences for me, since I was just starting on the non-mainstream at the time. When it ends, I want it to keep going. This is going to be a compulsive listen for me, for a long time, and make it onto multiple lists of mine, in very high positions. I spent like the full 10 minutes of this track experiencing chills, and this is just my first listen, and it sounds like the kind of track that gets better each time. Best piece of music I've heard all year. Just....wow." 'Nuff said :).

Author Comments:

I apologize for taking so long to write this list, I've been extremely busy listening to music, eating, starting school, and smoking the MJ. Oh and sleeping. Torrents/megauploads/rapishare/mediafire's coming when I find them.

And please comment on your opinions! I love to hear feedback on all songs :). If you know of any artists/albums/genres you think I will like, let me know!
