You have some great ideas here. I'd definitely like to see you or some other Listologists attempt these. I'd also like to suggest (I'm not sure, they may have already done these - I don't follow VH1's lists particularly closely):
20 Greatest Live Albums
30 Greatest Rock Songs Made Before 1960
20 Songs Most Effectively Used in Movie Soundtracks
Greatest Artist From Each One of the United States
and of course...
50 Biggest Sellouts: The 50 Songs Most Frequently Used in Commercials
Great idea. Feel free to put together a list like this. BTW, I'd love to see a list for the last item you suggested. I hereby nominate James Taylor for the state of North Carolina, although Ben Folds probably runs a close second. Oh, what the hell, I might put that list together too.
