  2. Commentaries can get a lot of bad comments about them , people sometimes see them as pointless and boring. There is no doubt that they can be VERY boring, but when they get it right, i find them very informative and worth while. So i do listen to quite a few when i get the chance, and when i come across a good one (Juno /Shattered Glass/ sideways) it only adds to my love for the film.

  70. DVDS I WISH HAD COMMENTARY, BUT DONT
  71. South Park Biggger, Longer & Uncut - by far my most requested. this would be great, in fact the whole film needs a 2 disc special edition with bunch of extras.
  72. The Dark Knight - pull your finger out Nolan. I mean with the success of the film and amount of new houses that bought you, you could at least sit down for 2 1/2 hrs to record a commentary.
  73. Dumb & Dumber - really would love this, farrelly bros with Carrey & Daniels or just carrey & Daniels.
  74. Lost In Translation
Author Comments:

opinions on the COMMENTARY TRACK, not the film. If i have not stated my opinions on a track thats on the above list and you want me too, feel free to ask and i will post my thoughts here.

Tropic Thunder - fun overall, some great moments but ben stiller (not so much jack) seemed put off by Downey staying in character for the commentary, something that was a slight let down for me too

Pineapple Express - Very funny commentary that for a comedy movie commentary was strangly informative at times. good stuff

Finding Nemo - Audio commentary that at times would change to visual stuff explaining certain shots or showing something said in the audio (like takes of Albert brooks riffing on a joke) you can skip the visual stuff if you want, so its a nice optional feature. The commentary itself is brilliant, they all bounce off eachother very well, have fun and its great.

WALL·E - A lot better than expected, thought it could be on the boring side, but stanton manages to mix well the informative with the funny stories. i enjoyed his story on him meeting Sigourney Weaver "now you get to be mother" recommended.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - not as good as you might expect, Russell brand hardly said 3 words. I expected more from these guys.

Juno - fun, yet informative, recommended!

Thank You for Smoking - meh, they spend a lot of time complimenting eachother's acting and directing. Aaron Eckhart hardly says more than 3 words and david isn't as funny as you might hope.

Cloverfield - very good for those who like the more informative commentary tracks, tad boring at times but overall pretty good.

Shattered Glass - Very intering insight to the film's subject, with the real chuck lane joining in the commentary, very good.

Sideways - Very good, really laid back and cool. Funny enough and infomative enough. Really recommended, they seem to be having tons of fun doing it

Son Of Rambow - Very fun! they play music that doesn't fit at certain scenes, they re-dub the dialogue which was funny, they get the mother's of the two leads in to talk for a few minutes, a lot of fun

You should check out Tarantino's track for True Romance, it's killer. Easily my favorite commentary.

actually funny you should bring that up, i have heard it before but i forgot to put it on this list, and yes from what i remember it was great. just hearing him talk about his influences , he is such a movie buff, its brilliant. I think there is one on the reservoir dogs dvd which i haven't listened too but i do wish he had done one for jackie brown, pulp and death proof, oh and kill bill vol.1. I'll add that true romance track to this list but i will re-listen to it now you mention it to refresh my memory

do you listen to many commentary tracks?

There is some stuff with him in the Reservoir Dogs commentary, but apparently the track is just a series of interviews edited together. Still, it's Tarantino, so it's worth a listen.

I used to listen to commentaries a lot, but not so much anymore (something I wouldn't mind rectifying). They're usually pretty awesome, especially the ones for Kevin Smith's films or the Apatow productions.

One of the funniest was the commentary by Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead movie. Awesome.

my brother has that Evil dead dvd, i'll borrow it and listen to it, though i haven't seen the film before. do you think the commentary will still be worth while without seeing the film? like watching the com first

It'd be better if you see it without the commentary, but it's one of the most RE-watchable films out there, I saw it three times on a row: without commentary, with Bruce's commentary and finally with Sam Raimi's commentary, but it's not really good, because there are quite a few akward silences. Bruce never stops talking, it's funny and insightful.
