Author Comments:
I have not yet decided what to do with movies I see outside the cinema or Netflix, so I'm dumping them here. This list is in its infancy. Based on the number I've rated on Netflix, I've seen nearly 1000 movies via TV or video, so I'll have to add them later. This is just a placeholder at this point.

How was Infernal Affairs?
It was pretty good. I saw the Hong Kong version on DVD, so I don't know what Miramax did to screw it up for the theatrical release. I found the subtitles to be very effective (unlike the ones on Shaolin Soccer's Hong Kong version). The DVD had a Hong Kong ending and an alternate. Here's a bit of philosophy regarding the two endings: The Hong Kong ending seemed to say that you should be judged by your future, not your past, whereas the other ending satisfies you if you expect people to pay for what they've done. It was a very modern, American-style cop drama. I thought it could have been made here, because it looked so good. I revisited a few scenes, just to enjoy the sights.
Cool, thanks! Oh, by the way, Martin Scorsese is remaking it, starring Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, titled The Departed.
One difficulty I had while watching Infernal Affairs, was trying to remember who was the "good guy" and who was the "bad guy." I think that was deliberate, because the film is all about examining those questions.
I think his version would be rougher, darker, more violent. There's was surprisingly little bloodshed or harsh language in the version I saw.
